Autonomous Systems Conference - 26th and 27th Nov
Autonomous Systems - Challenges, Developments and Opportunities
A major 2 day event at Hilton London Euston Hotel
26th & 27th November 2009
The capabilities of Autonomous Systems are growing: they can detonate unexploded bombs; provide care for the elderly and infirm; collect soil samples from hostile environments; and carry out significant surgical operations. The market for Autonomous Systems sector is poised for considerable growth; fuelled by the challenges of caring for a growing elderly population, increasing security threats to society, and coping with skills and resource shortages. The electronics community plays a very significant role in this sector.
This extensive 2 day event in Central London, structured around speaker presentations and discussions, is designed to bring together members of the electronics community - manufacturers, developers and researchers in the field of autonomous systems to discuss market requirements, new products and electronic technology developments.
Why attend?
The event will be attended by senior commercial and technical people from the electronics community, including representatives from the aerospace, automotive, healthcare, defence and environmental sectors, to create a stimulating environment for new market opportunities and collaborations.
Speakers from a range of organisations, such as BAE Systems, Roke Manor and a selection of University departments, will describe the requirements of growing markets, latest products and the latest technical developments and there will be a real opportunity to discuss specific challenges and solutions.
Day 1: Thursday 26th November
Sensor exploitation, motion and position guidance and control, with an emphasis on lifestyle, assisted living and medical applications.
Day 2: Friday 27th November
On-board information collection & analysis, and decision making with an emphasis on aerospace, automotive and defence applications.
These 2 days will be bridged by an evening networking dinner hosted by the Electronics KTN with a guest speaker.
Agenda presentations include:-
Defence requirements and capabilities
Towards verifiable autonomy
Open platform robotics
Locating and communicating with UAV’s
Human interfaces for hands free control
Autonomous indoor navigation
Rehabilitation robotics
Remote monitoring
Developments in robotic surgery
Sensor fusion
In addition Libor Kral of the EU Commission will talk about priorities for the forthcoming FP7 call on robotics and cognition and there will be an early evening workshop on day 1 for delegates interested in finding out more about this.
Flexible options to book are available for Day 1 and 2 plus evening dinner and preferential hotel rates have also been arranged
