This portal is intended to bring members of the UK electronics design community together with clinicians, medical device manufacturers and biotech companies to share ideas and best practice, compare experiences and issues, resolve problems and discuss new technologies in order to keep themselves at the leading edge of the medical devices market.

Technology Request - Friday, November 14, 2008

The London Technology Network emerging medical technologies newsletter, “Medisphere” for September 2008, carried a technology request:

Wrist unit monitoring vital functions of the patient at home and transmitting the data via telephone or internet to the call centre
A Czech company would like to establish a system of monitoring patients and elderly people in their homes. Thus they are looking for a device enabling distant monitoring of vital functions/breathing, one loo[ of ECG, pulse, body temperature and/or additional blood glucose.

Building on last year's successful event, the Medical Innovation Forum is to be staged in Harrogate again on 21 October 2008, with sponsorship from Yorkshire Forward and the White Rose Health Innovation Partnership.

The programme of case studies and roundtable discussion groups creates focused opportunities for all those with an interest in health technologies to discuss innovations, fast-track technology transfer, find partners, offer capabilities and seek funding/licensing agreements.

Key themes for the forum in October include: international collaboration and technology transfer; NHS adoption of new innovations; and emerging technologies for home based healthcare delivery.
