Rapid Prototyping with 32-bit Microcontrollers - the easy way! - Are you an inventor, innovator, designer or product developer? Have you ever wanted to prototype a new idea for a product or solution but been put off by your lack of electronics expertise or resources for developing such a prototype? Would you be interested if we told you that there was a way you could rapidly develop prototypes using sophisticated, flexible and powerful 32-bit microcontroller technology? And that you could do this without having to spend loads of time and money on buying and learning how to use expensive development tools? If the answer is yes, then read on.... A NEW CELLULAR SYSTEM - Collision is a serious problem during transmitting data by communication systems. Collision leads to decrease of the data throughput rate and sometimes even to complete data transfer failure. In this paper is provided a method for transmitting and receiving data, which gives the opportunity to solve the collision problem. The method enables carry out data transfer with low Bit Error Rate (BER) despite presence of collision. A cellular systems based on the proposed method can carry out seamless handover without loss and delaying of packets and disruption of the data transfer. ARTEMIS Networking Event - Feb 22nd 2010

Date: 22nd Feb 2010

Venue: Friends House 173-177 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ

On February 26th, 2010 the ARTEMIS Programme will launch its 3rd call for proposals. To follow on from the ARTEMIS Brokerage 2010 event in Amsterdam on 13th and 14th December, the Electronics Knowledge Transfer Network held an ARTEMIS Networking event in London. With presentations from ARTEMIS, ARTEMISIA and the TSB, and pitches from 10 other companies, this event provided UK and European companies with an excellent opportunity to network with each other and share ideas for ARTEMIS projects. Over 50 meetings were conducted between companies during the brokerage session held in the afternoon.

Embedded Software Design for Safety Critical Systems

A series of presentations exploring approaches in different market sectors

Date: 3rd Nov 2009
Venue: TRW Conekt, Solihull, West Mids, UK

Modern electronic systems increasingly make use of embedded computer systems to add functionality, increase flexibility, controllability and performance. However, the increased use of embedded software to control systems brings with it certain risks. The increased flexibility and complexity can lead to new and different failure modes which cannot be addressed with traditional fault tolerance techniques. This is especially significant in “safety-critical systems”.

Safety requirements and failure modes and consequences in medical systems will be quite different from those in avionics systems or automotive systems for instance, and the approaches used to ensure safety may consequently be different too.

This event is aimed at exploring the approaches used to develop embedded software in some of these different safety-critical applications, with a view to establishing any common approaches and identifying opportunities for sharing best practice and development tools and techniques.

A series of speakers will present their experiences of developing embedded software in various different safety critical applications.
