Current Sensor Network Work
In October 2009 two important reports were published on Sensor Networks.
The first report is the results of two years work by an international standards working group established by ISO/JTC1 to review the current status of Sensor Networks with particular reference to standardisation. This report is currently a working document for ISO and does not define any new standards - but it may form the basis for future standardisation work.
The second report is the report of the CASAGRAS team. This group was funded by the EC to review the "Internet of Things" and propose a future direction for Europe. The work studies the various definitions of the term "Internet of Things" and proposes a revised definition that combines the original concept from MIT with the emerging sensor network activity.
Both reports are important for defining future directions and comments are welcome in the discussion section below, by email to the SIG administrator (cwsig@electronics-ktn.com) or directly to Nigel Rix.
