Survey on Power Management and Operation of Wireless Sensors
by Nigel Rix (10 March 2010)
Today's remote and wireless sensors have conflicting requirements on power and operating capabilities.
We have prepared a survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PowerManagement
This seeks expert opinions on 9 issues identified during an initial consultation with stakeholders. All contributions will be fully acknowledged in the final report due to be published in May 2010.
We would be grateful if you or one of your colleagues could spare a few minutes to respond to the questions sharing your knowledge in this technology area and potentially influence some of the future developments.
The Power Management Action Group (http://www.sensorsktn.com/PMActionGroup) is supported by the Wireless Sensing Interest Group of the Sensors & Instrumentation KTN and the Connected World Interest Group of the Electronics KTN.
Its activities complement the study and report by the Energy Harvesting Action Group (www.sensorsktn.com/EHActionGroup).
This programme of work is designed to uncover the state of the art and also to critically question the applicability in real situations of interest to industry. Significant focus is therefore given to examining the barriers to application. This is to be achieved by direct involvement of industry in the study and detailed discussions with a wider group of industry end-users as well as developers of technology.
The plan of action for follow-on activity includes papers to funding bodies and a dissemination event on 27 May 2010 at the National Physical Laboratory.
