The ARTEMIS ("Advanced Research and Technology for Embedded Intelligence and Systems") Joint Technology Initiative is a €2.7 billion research programme on Embedded Computing Systems. It is run by a public-private partnership in the form of a "Joint Undertaking" established through a Regulation of the EU Council. For the first time ever, Community research and development (R&D) funds are being pooled with national funds, and this investment matched by industry.

The Electronics KTN intends to play an important role in helping members of the embedded systems community engage in this funding initiative. We are working closely with our partners at the Technology Strategy Board and with the National Contact Points to bring all the latest information to our members and to ensure that you are kept updated on major developments and milestones in the programme.

As a member of the ARTEMISIA organisation, Electronics KTN will be invited to all the general assembly meeting, at which we will be able to represent any views expressed by our members about the programme. We will also have direct access to some of the companies forming consortia to submit proposals to ARTEMIS.

We are also involved in helping companies to make contact with each other for the purpose of developing consortia and preparing applications. We will be collaborating with our partners to deliver "Information Days" at appropriate points in order to brief interested members of the embedded systems community on how to engage and how to apply for funding.

ARTEMIS Partner Search Tool online!!!!! - Thursday, August 07, 2008

The ARTEMISIA Office has developed a "Partner Search Tool" which is now available on the ARTEMISIA web-site (www.artemisia-association.eu). It is expected that this tool will become an important "two-way" resource, allowing project proposers to identify the partners they need and also allowing members, particularly those who may be new to ARTEMIS, to advertise their expertise and willingness to collaborate. The tool is available to members AND non-members of ARTEMISIA.

The purpose of this tool is initially to allow members to present themselves as a candidate partner in ARTEMIS-JU project consortia. Members can log in and, via a simple on-line form, register themselves as a potential partner. It is important when doing so that focus is on the R&D expertise and contribution an organisation can make to possible projects (i.e. avoid describing only the benefits of existing products or services the organisation offers, unless they are specifically relevant to R&D activities). The visibility this brings will make it easy to become part of new and exciting networks within the ARTEMIS world and other related research initiatives.

As this information base grows, it will become an increasingly important resource for those who are collecting partners for project proposals.

ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking (JU) first call published - Thursday, May 08, 2008

Only 3 months after its launch the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking (JU) has today published its first Call for proposals. With € 100 million public funding from the European Commission and the participating Member States and at least a € 100 million contribution from industry and research organisations the Call should generate an activity of more than € 200 million.  The ARTEMIS JU, a Europe-wide public-private research partnership,  addresses embedded computer systems that – while running almost unnoticed by users – improve the performance of all kinds of machines: from cars, planes and phones, to factories, washing machines and televisions.
