Calling all UK based Sensor Network experts - The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have a Joint Technical Committee JTC1 dealing with all matters of information technology. The work of JTC1 is undertaken by a series of Working Groups and Sub Groups - responsible for standardisation activities in specific technology areas. At the last international meeting of JTC1 a new Working Group (WG7) was established to coordinate standards activity for sensor networks. It is important that this new work is built not only on normal standards processes but also reflects the needs of industry and so an open meeting has been organised for 10:00 on Thursday 4th February to discuss the future work. A crucial time for any company is when the economy is coming out of a recession. For those well placed it can result in a market position that would not have been possible before. For those badly placed it can result in losing a lot of market share and momentum – or worse.
